Hello!

This fly from November-08 at the forest (northwest Germany) was about the size of a Calliphora, but had a greenish abdomen. Perhaps Bellardia sp.?

Light is very tricky, but first impression is Calliphora vomitoria.

Because of the orange "beard"? But it was really (no effect of the light) green instead of blue!?!

(Sorry I have no other angle, if took off too fast...)

Because of the beard and the shape and colouration of the antenna, all very Calliphora. Moreover, the abdomen is very broad.

Also the right angle bend in M means it is Calliphora.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
