Can someone steer me in the right direction with this Sciomyzidae? From central lowland France (la Brenne), 1 September 2008, swept from grass in a field grazed by cattle, 5.5mm. It is presumably male. Susan R Walter attached the following image: [102.21Kb] Edited by Susan R Walter on 16-11-2008 16:08 Susan |

Male Limnia sp. With the genitalia (postgonite), we will able to say whether it's L. unguicornis or L. paludicola.

OK, thanks Stéphane. I will see how many males I have and if I can spare a couple to pull apart, will have a go at some stage. My guess is that it will be unguicornis.
