Assuming that this, see photo, is what Gregor, RozkošnỸ, Barták and Vaňhara mean by a bow-shaped M vein then this should be genus Graphomya?????????????????????/![]() Gordon attached the following image: ![]() [111.14Kb] |

I mean Robinhood might call it bow-shaped, but I am sure Alice wouldn't have. Gordon |

OK, Thanks Stephane, Yes I just checked one now, obviously not before, and there is that little patch of hairs. Sorry everyone, yesterday was a live and learn day for me. A Scathophagid that was really a Muscid, A Rhinophorid that was really a Tachinid and a Muscid that was really an Anthomyiid. Fortunately for everybody I am not posting any photos today. ![]() Gordon |

Gordon, there are no reasons to worry about all these preliminary misID. For example: 1. Looking at this post I totally forgot about existence of Anthomyiidae family and genus Pegomya in it. Stephane refresh my memory... 2. Sometimes, one sends not images, but pinned material to real expert and expert's reply is still "Musca sp." or "Musca cf. africana" Do post! Do not worry!
