I suppose this fly belongs to the genus Platypalpus, but I need confirmation . From what I read, it is very difficult to determine Platypalpus species from a photo, is that the case with this one?One last question: I think the middle femur is enlarged to hold on the prey of the hybotid, am I correct? location: Portugal date: 09/11/2008

Platypalpus indeed. And the enlarged legs are used in poredation.
