Hi All, This robberfly is huge. The stick it is on is as thick as a mans ring finger. It had a very loud buzz when flying and I think it had some orange along the top of the abdomen but it flew off before I could get close for a better view. If anyone can help with an ID it would be much appreciated. regards, Trev Trev attached the following image: [79.17Kb] Edited by Trev on 08-11-2008 01:18 |

Trev, This is one of the fantastic species in the Australian genus Blepharotes; probably B. coriarius. Check out this site for a more dorsal view: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_robbers/LargeRobberFly.htm Regards, Eric |
