Hello,

I found this fly beginning of october in a forest region near Cologne. A Scatophagidae perhaps? What fly is it? (Length about 7-8mm)

Thanks,
Michael

Uhhh... The biggest Lonchoptera I know (and they are numerous at the light every night) are between 3 and 4 mm (mostly less)!

Perhaps I overestimated the size. But 3mm? I think it was at least 4-5mm, probably somewhat bigger.

But only, if you measure including wings... (I must admit I also tend to measure with wings, but without my Lonchoptera would be only 2-2.5 mm).
Best regards,
Jürgen

Yes, you are right. I again forgot to omit the wings. So maybe the size fits to the usual Lonchoptera specimens.
