Hello! I came across a fly which looked much like this and was labelled a Stevenia sp. Rhinophoridae. Tachinidae is the Family I think of when I see all those hairs! Thanks! ![]() 11th July, Lincoln UK. blowave attached the following image: ![]() [108.64Kb] |

Whatever it is, it is not Stevenia, since the topcel is open. My gut feeling is Tachinidae, possibly a very dark Phorocera. The eyes would need to be hairy, for that, can't tell from these pics. Theo |

Thank you Theo! I have another pic from above, it wasn't a very big fly. It flew away and came back about 3 minutes later, at least I think it's the same fly. Still can't see the hair on it's eyes though! ![]() Janet blowave attached the following image: ![]() [127.99Kb] |

Given the last pic, I'll change my mind to Sarcophagidae Theo |

Thank you Theo, I can see Sarcophagidae in the eyes, there are so many of those! Looking through my pics I have a few similar but with some white. Janet This one on 21st May blowave attached the following image: ![]() [107.57Kb] |

Thanks again Theo! All good experience, I guess to ask for an idea of the Genus is stretching it too far....![]() Janet |
