There was Lucilia message where Susan said this:
eyes separated by about the width of the third antennal segment, and clearly separated by the black interfrontalia

Here I have too different flies two minutes apart with photo's 2&3 of the second one. Angle (and light direction) seems to do big difference in the frons.
Lappeenranta, Finland, august, not collected, more photo's available.

Henry – you are right, and it is good to have multiple pictures if you need to make a judgement, especially because of the shifting reflections showing dark in some photos and light in others. Pietro's specimen was L. illustris, which can be separated from L. caesar because the eyes are a bit further apart in illustris. It's actually easier to judge in the males of these two species than the females because the handy reference is the width of the third antennal segment. About the same distance between the eyes as the width of the third antennal segment for illustris, about half for caesar.

Your two here are illustris too I think (assuming they only have 2 post sutural acr, which I think they do, but a bit difficult to see from this angle.)
