This is a Stratiomyid. You might want to look in the Gallery. Whatever it is there were an awful lot of the same Genus (Chorisops, Chloromyia) around in my National Park in Greece in late September to early October and there are still a few flying here.

Mostly resembles Chorisops tibialis.
