I think you are wrongFrown. These specimens, at least the ones on picture two and three, look like calyptrates to me. But there are several people on this forum who can give a better judgement.

I agree with Jan, but that doesn't mean much as I know less than him. We had a thread about a month back in which a small, black, shiny predatory fly was IDed as Coenosia atra or something like that, I think they said it was distinctive, recognisable, so maybe it is the same.

Have a look at http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=16166Wink

I'd say 1. no idea, could be an acalyptrate, pic too indisctinct. 2. Could be Lonchaeidae, but can not exclude a Muscid, again poor pic quality 3. I think a male Fannia.

I agree that top right photo is Lonchaeidae, the broad, blue/black thorax is distinctive. This is not the first time there have been photographs of Lonchaeids feeding on dead flies on the forum - there was a pic of one feeding on a Syrphid a few months ago - they obviously have a taste for their own kind! ....... I didn't know Lonchaeidae show behaviour like that.
