hi flyforum,

This week I found this Phaonia fly(I think it is Phaonia) but don't know which species..?

It wasn't big (<10mm)
obvious infuscated crossveins (heavy), rather big eyes compare to the rest.
Eyes close to each other (male..?) and there's some black in the red eyes.
the fly looks a bit compact(solid), not so elongated or elegant.
Basal antennal segments are coloured, top of scutellum is also coloured.
posterior setae on leg II (if I see this correctly)
long (dorsal centrals) strong setae on thorax
1 prescutellar ac.
On the scutem there is a broadlined pattern of stripes, rather rough..

I watched the gallery and Phaonia perdita got some of it.., but I know that this could be tricky..

I am wondering what kind of fly this could be..

Thank you Stephane,
I looked in Gallery and found a picuture of a male of P. tuguriurum (of Juergen).
They are quite different, males and females.
The eyes are really close together..
And this specie is more little (then P. Valida)
