Hello! This one visited the light in our garden tonight (northwest Germany). I guess it is a male Bibio clavipes. Size about 5 mm. Two larger pictures: http://www.foto-u...5mm_M3.jpg http://www.foto-u...5mm_M4.jpg Juergen Peters attached the following image: ![]() [25.44Kb] Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

They are quite similar, but the stigma is more extended in lepidus, as excellently shown in these pics. Lepidus seems to be even later than clavipes (based on little records, though). Theo |

The only B. clavipes I found, yet, was not much earlier last year: http://www.dipter..._id=899998 Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

OK. I looked at it again, and my opinion has not changed: this is lepidus and that one is clavipes. Theo |
