hi flyforum,

I watched this Fannia sp. on Alnus-leaves.
These Fannia's where interested in the Symphyta-larvae which where eating of this leaves.

Later on, I found remains of these symphyta's, just skins or dead larvae?
And I could see that these Fannia's where interested in these 'things'.

I'll publice some pictures of these flies.

Robert, it is 2 different flies.
2,3,4 is Anthomyiidae
1 looks female of Fannia

in front of the picture, you can see the remains of the Symphyta-larvae.

I should think the Fannia is investigating the cast skin of the larva.
