These were photographed at night at a lit window. Looking through the Gallery, the only flies that seem similar are Hippoboscidae. On my Checklist are one species; Ornithomya chloropus. Thanks guys,for putting me right (again).(Kelp flies).I have C.frigida on the list. These were photographed at the Airport I work at,which is situated by the sea. I haven't noticed them there during the day. Must be attracted to the security lights at night. Regards Roger |

Yes, I'd agree with C. frigida, though you have flagged up an interesting case of convergent morphology - flattened shape, greasy apearance and small eyes.
