This probably will be a Stratiomyidae, but witch one? Is there anybody who can help me out?

Yes, it is a STratiomyiidae.

Any indication of size ? Very small ?

I'm not sure. It's not very small, around 1 cm I would say. I've attached the whole picture, so maybe you can estimate the size. The fly is sitting on a leave of Buddleja davidii. I hope this will help! Thanks!

If it is around 5 mm, it is Microchrysa
If it is really around 10 mm, which seems unlikely, given the picture, it is a Sargus.

As I said, I'm not sure. When I take a ruler to estimate the length, 5mm seems too small, but 6 or 7 could be. 10 mm Indead is too big! So, Microchrysa spec. it will be? Next time I'll take a ruler with me!

Hehee, good luck with that Grin

Pretty much everyone overestimates sizes of insects. I don't know why, but there seems to be an universal tendency for this. Even experiences field workers have to be very careful and consciously think about the size, otherwise they will overestimate too.

It's just one of those things you have to know and remember,

I'm glad it is small, for it didn't looked like Sargus.
