hi flyforum, I found this sun-bathing female Calliphoridae in the Amsterdam forest Acer-leaves. What kind of Calliphoridae is this ? It is female L. caesar or illustris. Needs someone with more experience than me to separate them, even with these excellent photos.

Thanks a lot Susan, What makes it L. caesar or L. illustris in your opinion? I like to know some of it, or is it 'just' the touch..(impression) If someone want to see more detail from a specific part, I can cut that detail perhabs. Like mouthparts, bucca, callypter and so on.. My problem with this one was that I thought the front end looked like caesar and the back end like illustris  so in the end I decided I couldn't call it. A blown up crop of your second picture showing T6 and its bristles may give us an answer. Susan |
