Hello! This fly was the reason, why I thought the Muscina in this thread: http://www.dipter...d_id=16313 was a Polietes, too, before taking a closer look. Same size (10 mm) and habitus, found at the same place and date (at a hedge on Sept-18, northwest Germany). But this is really a Polietes sp. male, right? 960x960 picture (79 KB): http://www.foto-u...9mm_M2.jpg Juergen Peters attached the following image: [41.51Kb] Edited by Juergen Peters on 21-09-2008 23:19 Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Looks like Helina evecta/annosa. Legs 3 are not visible, so not a definite ID.

Hello, Stephane! Stephane Lebrun wrote: Looks like Helina evecta/annosa. Legs 3 are not visible, so not a definite ID. Possibly H. evecta? That's interesting. That species is very numerous here in early spring, but I have never seen it in autumn. Thanks! Hello, Nikita! Nikita Vikhrev wrote: Season is still OK for H. evecta Thanks! Is it overwintering adult (and can therefore be active so early in spring?)?
