Hi,

today (20.september.2008) found in Hieracium (i think) flower this conopid. size around 7mm (collected).
can be IDed?

thinked the same, but this was 2 times bigger than Thecophara i find ussualy here.
also that yellow posterior femur look maybe disinct?

T. cf. atra. longer than 5 mm, silverish abdomen, second antennal segment much longer than the third. pusilla, distincta, longirostris and melanopa has almost the second antennal segment to the third, which is not this case!
this never could be a Myopa - look at the proportion of the eyes comparing to the head. Wink

Colour of hind femora and face also fits Th. atra

Definitely atra group, but not really possible to ID from males, even when pinned. However, dusting and leg colour suggest T fulvipes to me.

i have the exemplar, now i don't know what to do with that if even wih exemplar is probably not possible to ID.
