hello flyforum,

My first idea was Cecidomydiae, but looking better everything lookes different.
2nd basal segment of antenne heavy, other antennesegments much smaller.
size of fly - ~3mm
place: next to streaming water (Amsterdam/Beatrixpark)
legs yellow/braun, third leg with some black.
Thorax and abdomen gold/green shiny.
color under thorax, white/grey.

What kind of fly is this?

greeting Robert,

Hi Robert.
It is Dolichopodidae, but which one I don't know.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
