These flies was very common in the highly salty lake (now dried, only covered with water in winter) of La Playa, Bujaraloz, Monegros region, NE Spain, about 200-300 meters, few days ago. They're very quickly, so, I only could take this photo:![]() ![]() The size is similar to Musca domestica. There is a better photo of a mating: http://www.infojardin.com/foro/showpost.php?p=1518585&postcount=1937 Jorge Mota Almeida collected someone. In company of high numbers of a spectacular tiger-beetle, Cephalota (Taenidia) circumdata imperialis, also exclusive of salty habitats. Can be identified? Thanks, Regards |

Isidro, that second photo is from Castejon so may be they are different specs... or maybe not... |

Thanks a lot. I saw it very similar and I supposed that your photo was taken at La Playa. You found it, at least, in a similar habitat (salty water?) |

Perhaps a Lispe (Muscidae). We'll have to wait for Jorge to raport on the collected material.
