Hello Forum,

is this one a Phaonia spec? I think, it should be Phaonia pallida?! Right? Wrong?

Hagen, NRW, alder marshland, 175 msm, July 30th 2008, on Angelica sylvestris

Best regards, Josef

Hello Nikita,

here I found a better photo. It is from August 4th 2008, same place. I think, it should be the same species. Right? Wrong?

Best regards, Josef

First one is indeed Thricops diaphanus (no strong presutural acrostichal), second is female of Phaonia pallida.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
