Hi,
Today I saw this Syrphid male licking aphid honey dew from a leaf. The abdomen pattern recalls a bit Melanostoma, but he was much bigger. ID help is greatly appreciated,
Sundew

Many thanks - that makes me proud! Why so great - is it a rare or peculiar species?

It is rather uncommun (at least in France), ans so peculiar indeed. Smile
