Tabanidae -> Chrysops sp?

Member Location: Norway Posts: 180 Joined: 24.05.08	Correct so far? I would guess about 12mm big. I cant be sure this is the exact one that bit me, but I would azume it was same species. Possible to tell what species it is? I do have a couple more halfgood pictures from other angles. I think in norway there are 'only' 7 species from Chrysops, so maybe it could be possible to pin it down? Pictures taken about a week ago, near river here in southern norway. C. nigripes is an Holarctic sp. but the wing pattern of the 2nd specimen does not resemble that of North American nigripes. Actually it doesn't resemble the image of a nigripes wing in The Horse Flies of Europe; neither does it fit the description of the wing in that book.
