Dear forum,

I took this picture today in my garden. Is Rhinophoridae correct and can they be further identified?

Best regards, Niek

Does rather look like members of the "Rhinophoridae dance-troop" doing their world-famous performance of "conga on a leaf" Grin Either that or just having an orgy Wink

Dear Chris,

Thank you for your reply. They are almost human... I assume identification further than Rhinophoridae species is impossible?

Best regards, Niek

Rhinophora lepida is common at this time of year and is small with yellow halteres ... but it's hard to say for sure ... need to see the wings a bit better and get a better idea of their size Smile

Dear Chris,

Size was ~5 mm. I shall describe them in my album - an oldfashioned one with pictures printed on paper - as Rhinophora cf. lepida. OK?

Best regards, Niek

There is only one Rhinophora and this is it, indeed, lepida.
