the species was photo in 16 July 2008, in south western part of Romania, Mehedinti County, in the Natural Reserve Cazanele Mari, The IRon Gates Natural Park.
calcareous area, almost 300 m

I think not, closer to modesta but might be paniscus. it is rather odd in that abdomen pattern suggests that it is a female while the tegula is pale, a feature of males in some species.

as far as I could read on this site and on the net, Villa genus is very difficult. I suppose that the name for this fly will be just Villa sp. Sadnext time I will collect it.Cool.

Try and obtain both sexes and pin them carefully, material in spirit often gets to me in poor condition with all the scales rubbed off.
