Yep, compared to the tiny carrot flowers it certainly measured less than a cm. I have some more pics of rather small Cylindromyias, more recent ones from a different place, maybe it is the same species. (I'll post another thread this evening.) Sometimes they showed white rings on the abdomen, sometimes not - is this just a matter of exposure to light? However, we can discuss that in the next Cylindromyia thread. Many thanks, Sundew |

NO, the colouration and lack of dusting are typical for this species (that is, if you exclude 14 mm. ones like bicolor etc.). Theo |

It is not pusilla. Or to be exact, I don't think so All pusilla specimens I've seen have essentially unicolorous wings with no yelllow at the wing base.

I agree that the colouration of the wings is extreme, however, some females pusilla in my collection are quite similar to this one. (Maybe my collection is bigger )? Theo |
