Hi,
This fly that sat on a leaf in the shadow yesterday afternoon is probably an Anthomyiid. At least I derived this conclusion from the thoracical setae. Is there any chance to find out more?
Thanks, Sundew

In the last photo I think I can see plumose arista? Then it is a Hylemya species, perhaps vagans Pz or urbica Wulp?

H. vagans female has yellow tibia aand partly yellow femora, while uurbica has black femora and partly yellow tinge to hind tibia. This photo does not fit either (and one must realise that these colour differences are variable) so I looked again and notice that the lower squama is projecting somewhat. It is Hydrophoria lancifer female. The scutellum in lancifer should be more setose than in Hyllemya species, but is not visible. The difference between the two genera is in the male genitalia (quite different).

I have to thank you both! As there were many males of Hydrophoria lancifer around in the last months, it is no surprise to find also a female (however, I didn't recognize it Sad).
Cheers, Sundew
