Yestoday I attracted insects with a light. Anyone recognizes this ultradistinctive Nematoceran? It was so Hymenoptera-like that I even failed to collect it.

Not with those tibial spurs! I think this is a mycetophilid or similar.

Check http://www.sciaro... for literature and downloadable files. I hardly have more pdf's (if any at all) than are availabel from there.

In general I try to get to genus level using the Manual of Nearctic Diptera (the few exceptions that you may come across that are not in that key sortthemselves out quite easily). I also use the key in the Handbooks for Identification of British Insects. If the latter can not help me to get to species level I have a big stack of photo copies of all kinds of papers: young and old, English, Russian, and what you have, etc. I must admit, I have not been able to keep up to date with the more recent literature though.
