Hello!

This one from our house wall today (northwest Germany) was much smaller than the Neria I posted shortly, only 4-5 mm. Unfortunately there are no dorsal photos of Micropeza in the gallery, so it is difficult to compare. But could it be this genus?

No, sorry. I only have dorsal views. It was running so fast and then was away... Sad

Fine Smile, thanks!

Edit: on faunaeur.org and in "Entomofauna germanica" there is only Neria ephippium. Same fly?!

Just to confirm that - yes it is Neria ephippium. Black posted a good photograph on this site at http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=2513 and there's another by Urs at http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=4830&pid=21558#post_21558
The striking things about it are its small size compared to other Neria, the sinusoidal shape when viewed from the side and the orange thorax. I've very nearly caught this one, spending a whole day on my knees on a sand dune system on the day after someone else from Dipterists Forum caught it Sad Fairly scarce in the UK

Hello, Darwyn!

Many thanks for confirmation! This was also my only find of this species here. Never spotted it again since then...
Best regards,
Jürgen
