My father sent me these images. The beast was taken sitting on the leg of the breakfast table on my parent's north facing back verandah in inland south-east Queensland, about 10 days ago. I think it might be a male Neoitamus sp, but would like to know what others think. It was apparently 35-40mm long.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
