hi flyforum,

Today I found this comic fly in the Amsterdam forest.
I think it is a Oecothea sp., but which one?

1. Oecothea fenestralis (Fall?n, 1820)
2. Oecothea praecox Loew, 1862

do you have a suggestion?

This is a female Eccoptomera; Oecothea has bristles on the mid-tibia.

probably Ecc. microps (very small eyes) but check out the scutellum (if covered by small hairs or not ) Cool

When I first looked at this fly, I thought the eyes where abnormal!? (so small)

I'll check out the scutellum tomorrow, I am not at my desk now.
