i never know what is heary or not about Syrphus torvus eyes
i need a more experienced eyePfft

Male Syrphus torvus are usually more densely hairy eyed than this. You really need the specimen, rather than a photo. The hairy eyes are very obvious in males. Ocassionally other species have sparse short hairs, but never as hairy looking as S torvus.

so, if it's not S. torvus, I think it's S. ribesii.

do you see heary eyes ? or is there any other critera i don't know ?
