Hello!

I found this larva yesterday on a piece of bark on a meadow near a forest (northwest Germany). I'm not sure, whether it is dipteran. Length about 10 mm (compare to the Tomocerus springtail (3 mm) on the second picture). It reminds me of something I've already seen, but I do not remember. Sad

Many thanks! That was my first thought, too, after being told that this could be a Diptera larva. But I could not find a similar one in the gallery.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
