Hello, a nice Muscidae on Solidago canadensis in abandoned courtyard (northwest Germany). Hallo Jürgen, the palps are not dilated apically and distinctly shorter than proboscis which seems to be longer than the head's height. I think it is Stomoxys calcitrans.

Thanks, Eric! I excluded Stomoxys calcitrans, because I had it in mind with a much thinner proboscis, not thickened at the base like in this fly. But I mostly see it when it rests with the proboscis straight forward like on the picture below.
