Hi everyone, and especially Theo! Is this a male Odontomyia hydroleon? Antennae black, scutellum almost completely dark, black spots broad, and on the last picture it looks like the face is prominent, too. There were also some safe O. angulata around, with clearly brown antennae, big green hind margin at scutellum and not so broad spots on its back. Looking clearly different. Will post pictures, if someone is interested. Approx. 10 mm 12.6.2025, Germany, Upper Bavaria, Berchtesgadener Land, Höglwörth, about 540 m a.s.l., coordinates 47.81965,12.84647 Rupert Huber attached the following image: ![]() [158.81Kb] Edited by Rupert Huber on 27-06-2025 07:58 Best greetings Rupert |

Hi again! Just read that this was almost 3 weeks before the "official" flight season of Odontomyia hydroleon. But it is one, right?

I think you are right with Odontomyia hydroleon! 2009 1 ♀ 7440/1 M.vii. 2009 2 ♀♀ " Edited by eklans on 26-06-2025 13:49 Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |

Hi Eric! Thanks for this information! Actually I don't see an alternative to O. hydroleon, too. I found today on observation.org the earliest find reported there in Germany is 2.6. https://observati...243841198/ Best greetings Rupert |
