14. April 2025, about 9mm. From our garden in Rheinbach near Bonn/Germany, 210m above sea level. My gut-feeling says Epistrophe, although I have no idea why .-( What is he really and what traits should I look for? I have several more photos if other perspectives are needed. Thank you for your help, Jörg

Thank you Karsten! On Facebook (sorry, usually I don't ask in parallel, but recently my Syrphidae-questions on diptera.info where not answered - you did answer them all now, thank you!) Jeroen Van Steenis suggested E. obscuripes, but this has never been reported, according to gbif, in Germany but once in the North. Do you have an easyJet hint for me how to distinguish Epistrophe from Parasyrphus - I am really lost here!
