Hi all,

I work for a conservation organisation in Seychelles. I would be most grateful for some assistance identifying some of the Diptera seen on Desroches island in Seychelles.

Firstly, is this Chrysosoma sp.?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

James

The first fly looks like a Chrysosoma - a female I think, judging from the swollen abdomen. The third fly looks like a Chrysosoma male with a modified mid leg. The second and fourth flies are both Scholastes, as far as I can see. The fourth one is freshly emerged and has not yet developed full colouration.

Hi James, I think it's better to use one thread for every fly - this makes it easier to find the experts.

The last image shows one of Tabanidae the antepenultimate belongs to the Ulidiiae - Physiphora, I think and if you add the family to your thread's title you'll soon attract an expert.
