Photographed today from Zhejiang China, tiny, around 3mm in body length. What family could it possibly belong in? Something like Anthomyzidae? Thanks in advance!

Arista looks very Drosophylid-like. Possible answers: Liodrosophila or Cypselosomatidae Edited by Nikita Vikhrev on 30-11-2024 11:39 Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

It seems me too odd for a drosophilid (hairy scutellum, peculiar ocellar triangle), I would rather search in Ephydridae, but not sure. |

Dr. Marina Krivosheina (Ephydrid expert) just wrote me that it is not her group.

Inquire with Jindrich Tohacek whether it might be Anthomyzidae...
