Date 11-Sept-2024, Location Cullompton, England (an allotment field) L&L (decimal) 50.857983 -3.397162. Resting on various sunny surfaces.

It's a male Pollenia - black basicosta and narrow frons, could be Pollenia labialis

Yes Gordon: a sharp photo of the posterior spiracle - the lappets of P. labialis are dark brown.
