Hello, South of France, September 03, 2024. It was collecting earth to coat its eggs. Its position did not allow me to measure it but the length of a wing is 10 mm. I'm thinking of the Villa genus but I've never seen one with such white hair. Is this a criterion for a species or a discoloration? Thanks for your help with identification Liliane D attached the following image: ![]() [271.92Kb] Edited by Liliane D on 06-09-2024 15:38 |

Villa is correct and there's a white haired species in South-Europe: Villa ixion, which I unfortunately do not know and have no information about that species.

Thanks Eric, There are indeed few descriptions of Villa ixion but the white hairiness could be a good match. |
