Hi,
A year ago in Baden-Württemberg I met a small Sphaerocerid, Pseudocollinella cf. humida, among a number of Ephydridae that gathered around a muddy rut (see https://diptera.i..._id=106982).
In the first days of October this year I encountered this fly combination again, this time in southern Brandenburg. The photos got a little better so that the crucial bristles on Pseudocollinella's middle tibia are visible. It is in fact P. humida and not P. jorlii, the latter species has not yet been recorded in Brandenburg. So we can close the case Smile.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
