Presumably female fitting to male in last thread. 21.-23-SEP-2023 (sorry, as the males) in different areas close to Salalah/Oman. This one irrigated farm 400m above sea level.

This one close to an irrigated parking side, 700m above sea level, near Salalah/Oman. All animals rather large and bold, certainly 12mm.

I am not really familiar with Syrphidae in the Arabian peninsula but I think this could be E. tabanoides.

Thank you, this sounds convincing and I try cf. As you can see from my chaotic threads, I am new as an acive user here. If I rename the thread with E. cf. tabanoides, will it still be checked b others than who might no even better than you? Kindest regards, Jörg
