Hi,

this little fly took a rest on the wall of our house in the late afternoon.

I would suspect that it belongs to the family Tephritidae. Can that be confirmed or excluded from the attached image and/or is a narrower determination possible ?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Munich (-West), 06.09.2023, app. 5 mm

Greetings, Uli

It looks like Tephritidae but it is actually a Sciomyzidae - Trypetoptera punctulata.

Hi James,

thank you very much for the identification! That sure explains why I couldn't find a really good match in Tephritidae. Smile
