Hi, this fly took a rest on a leaf close to our garden hedge. My guess would be that it might belong to the Rhinophoridae family. Is that correct? Hi Uli, from what I see, it's rather likely a female Stevenia atramentaria, now Calliphoridae - Rhinophorinae.

Hello Eric, This "new" classification seems not to be widely accepted yet. On Fauna Europaea for example Rhinophoridae is still shown as a separate family. And Pollenia is still mentioned as genus within the Calliphoridae. Not sure what classification should be followed at the moment. Jan Willem van Zuijlen |

Rhinophorinae "Monophyletic blowflies revealed by phylogenomics" by Liping Yan et al incl. Thomas Pape (taxonomic specialist and group coordinator FE) from 2021 2.
