Slovakia, Banská Bystrica, Kremnické vrchy mts. 750 m.a.s.l., forest patches, abandoned meadows, 6 July 2023, 18-20 mm.

I keyed it out as Tabanus tergestinus, but I am not fammiliar with many characteristics and may by completely wrong. For example I think, the eyes are bare, but I have no idea how apparent are hairs in Tabanidanidae.

Hello Matej, I'm pretty sure you are right with female T. tergestinus. Your fly matches perfectly the description in Theo's book.
