Hi,
Now I'd like to introduce my husband to you. He has a small companion on the neck, which behaved so well that we could hardly believe after learning more that it had been a Tabanid. We loved its green eyes! Now I know for sure the name of my husband, but I am not certain about that of the fly - perhaps Chrysops relictus? Location is the Island of Usedom in August.
Thanks for help, Sundew

She DIDN'T suck, however!! She just came for a photo. (Jorge's probable comment: Which beauties do not love to be photographed?)
Many thanks for the confirmation of the species!
Regards, Sundew

She's trying to... But distracted by the (handsome?) photographer maybe. It's unusual they stay put, while NOT sucking.
Oh, and forget Jorge, he's missing something I suppose... (yes, it's winter, no Tabanids... Pfft )
