Hello
The 2023/05/15, I posted in this message a male of Fannia canicularis
https://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=109860

The 2023/05/28, I once again caughted the same fly (I think ?) in the same place (NE of France my apartment Florange 57190). Length body : 5 à 6 mm.

I compared the 2 heads and I noticed that the fly from 05/28 has a long yellowish stripe that extends from the back of the head to the apex of the antennae while the other doesn't have this stripe.

What do you think ?
Is it the same species?, a male and a female?, or an interspecific variation
Thank you very much
Louis

Hello Louis, both are males (the female has a distinctly wider frons) and I think the differences depend on the angles and the lighting of the photos.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner
