Thinophilus (or possibly some very closely related oriental genus). And it does indeed belong to Hydrophorinae!

Nikita, I am sorry for a long delay. I have identified your dry male as Thinophilus tesselatus Becker, 1922: Capita zool. (Den Haag) 1(4): 35 It is the same as on your photo. At the same time, GROOTAERT, P. & H. MEUFFELS have described three new species from Thailand and have stated that many more new species can be found there. Good hunting! Igor. GROOTAERT, P. & H. MEUFFELS, (2001). A note on the marine dolichopodid flies from Thailand (Insecta, Diptera, Dolichopodidae) Raffles Bulletin of Zoology 49: 339-353. |

The Scatella is almost certainly tenuicosta - it is none of the other species recorded in this region, and as far as I'm aware is new to Thailand. ![]() Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |
