hi flyforum, I found several mating Trichoceridae(?) on parts of trunk (chop down)tree's. Several insekts were attrackted to the resin of these trunk. Are these flies Trichoceridae? Hello Robert, At first I thought it was a Dixidae (wings), but they are 3-5,5 mm. And on second thought the wings where not the same But I think now that it could by a Winter Crane Fly. Indeed Trichocera sp. ! But mayby somebody else has more or better info.... Greatings Joke |

Hello, this is Trichocera , but no special characters are visible to tell which one this could be. As wing venation could be quite variable, usually genitaliae are needed to tell the species for sure ![]() Andrius |
