Hi to all,

Not been here since years Smile .
Last years collected few larvae of Carcharodus alceae and few days ago seen that one adult is out but also one tachinid (and his puparia) was there.
Is possible to have a name for this one? The specimen is still alive and well (for now Smile ).

Thank you!
Cosmin

Dear Cosmln,

The host is very interesting, or course ! First option should be Thecocarcelia, but it is not.
So I think it might be the female of Sturmia bella, a specialist on Nymphalidae but reared at least once from this host as well.
Did you collect the specimen ?

Thank you Theo!

The specimen is still alive in fridge, wanted to do some more photos and will be no problem to put it on a pin. I planned to do that and to add it on the unit tray with Carcharodus alceae from collection.
Any other photo will help for a better/full name?

Don't know if matter (but forgot to write it), the larvae were collected in 4 october in NE of Romania.

Thanks!
Cosmin

I had to get used to the idea, but I’d say it is totally OK for female Sturmia bella.
